Insight Scanning Technology
At Healing Wave Chiropractic in Allentown, PA, we use Insight Scanning Technology to better understand how your spine and nervous system are functioning. These gentle, non-invasive scans help reveal patterns of stress, tension, posture, and adaptability that may not be obvious from symptoms alone.
The goal is to give Dr. Shaun a clearer starting point, track your progress over time, and guide care that supports better nervous system function.
See Stress Patterns More Clearly
Your nervous system is constantly adapting to physical, emotional, chemical, and postural stress. Over time, those stresses can create patterns of tension and imbalance in the spine and body.
Insight scans help make some of those patterns visible, giving us objective information to better understand how your body is adapting and where support may be needed.

What We Measure
Surface EMG
Surface EMG measures the electrical activity of the muscles along your spine. This helps show where your body may be overworking, underworking, or using extra energy to maintain posture. At Healing Wave Chiropractic, sEMG helps Dr. Shaun identify patterns of spinal tension and track how your nervous system changes over time.
Heart Rate Variability
(HRV)
Heart Rate Variability measures the natural variation between heartbeats. It gives insight into how well your autonomic nervous system is balancing stress, recovery, and resilience. Higher adaptability generally reflects a nervous system that can respond to stress and recover more efficiently. HRV helps us look beyond pain and assess whole-body regulation.

Paraspinal Infrared Thermography
Paraspinal infrared thermography measures temperature differences along the spine. These patterns are influenced by the autonomic nervous system, which helps regulate stress response, circulation, and internal balance. This scan helps Dr. Shaun identify areas where nervous system regulation may be uneven or stressed.

Posture
Posture is an outward expression of how your nervous system, spine, muscles, breath, and stress patterns are organizing your body. A posture assessment helps us observe patterns such as forward head posture, uneven shoulders, pelvic imbalance, rotation, or compression, giving Dr. Shaun a clearer picture of how your body is adapting.
Weight Distribution Analysis
Weight distribution analysis shows how evenly your body is bearing weight through your feet, legs, pelvis, and spine. Uneven weight patterns may reflect postural stress, compensation, or spinal imbalance. This helps us better understand how your body is stabilizing itself in gravity.
Why This Matters
Many people begin chiropractic care because something hurts, but symptoms are only part of the story.
Insight scans help us look deeper at how your nervous system is functioning, adapting, and regulating. This allows care to be guided by objective patterns, not symptoms alone.

A More Informed Starting Point
Insight scans give Dr. Shaun a clearer baseline before care begins. Some people feel pain but have deeper stress patterns. Others feel “fine” while their scans show their body is working hard to compensate.

This information helps shape personalized care recommendations based on your body, your goals, and your nervous system.
What to Expect During Scans
Insight scans are gentle, non-invasive, and comfortable. Depending on your exam, we may assess spinal muscle activity, posture, weight distribution, thermal patterns, and HRV.
Most scans are quick and easy. There is no radiation, no cracking, and no painful procedure involved.
