Scoliosis Support in Allentown, PA

Scoliosis is commonly described as a sideways curvature of the spine. It may be noticed in childhood, adolescence, or adulthood. Some people have mild curves with few symptoms, while others experience posture changes, stiffness, discomfort, or body imbalance.

For parents, scoliosis can bring a different kind of concern. Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis is the most common pediatric form and is typically identified between ages 10 and 18. A child may be growing quickly, and the question becomes: Is this changing? Is it affecting posture? Should we be watching it more closely?

At Healing Wave Chiropractic in Allentown, PA, Dr. Shaun M. Gallagher looks at scoliosis through posture, spinal awareness, neuromuscular tone, breath, and nervous system adaptability.

The goal is not to force a spine straight. The goal is to help the body function with more awareness, balance, and ease.

What May Someone with Scoliosis Notice?

A curved and rotated spine can change how the body carries weight. One side may feel tighter. One shoulder may work harder. The ribs may move differently with breath. The pelvis may compensate. The neck may adapt to keep the eyes level.

Over time, the nervous system may learn these patterns as normal.

What We May Assess

Dr. Shaun may use digital posture screening to observe postural patterns more clearly. Bilateral weight distribution analysis may help show whether your body is loading evenly from side to side.

Insight Scans may include HRV, sEMG, and paraspinal thermography. These tests help us understand stress patterns, postural energy, and areas where tension may be affecting spinal function. They do not diagnose scoliosis or measure the curve the way medical imaging does. They help us understand how your body is functioning now.
