Gentle Pediatric Chiropractic Care in Allentown, PA
Children do not always explain what they feel.
A baby may arch, turn mostly one way, struggle to settle, or seem tense during feeding. A toddler may have big feelings, poor sleep, frequent falls, or resistance to certain movements. A school-aged child may carry tension, struggle with posture, feel overwhelmed, or seem uncomfortable in their own body.
Parents often naturally sense when something is off, even when everything looks “normal” on paper. We're closely connected to our children, and listening to their rhythms is important.
Pediatric chiropractic at Healing Wave Chiropractic is designed to be gentle, respectful, and parent-informed. Dr. Shaun M. Gallagher works with families to better understand how a child’s spine, posture, movement, breath, and nervous system may be adapting to growth, stress, birth, development, activity, and daily life.

Why the Nervous System Matters for Kids
A child’s nervous system is constantly learning.
It learns how to feed, sleep, move, balance, regulate, recover, focus, and respond to the world. As children grow, their bodies adapt to many forms of input: birth, tummy time, crawling, walking, falls, backpacks, screens, sports, emotions, illness, and family stress.
When a child’s system is under load, parents may notice patterns such as:
Body tension
Difficulty settling
Postural strain
Trouble with transitions
Feeding or latch-related tension
Frequent clumsiness or imbalance
One-sided movement preferences
Stress held in the jaw, shoulders, belly, or spine
What Pediatric Care Looks Like at Our Office
Pediatric care at Healing Wave Chiropractic is low-force and adapted to the child’s age, size, comfort, and developmental stage.
For infants, care will involve very light contacts (the amount of force to test a ripe tomato), careful observation, cranial evaluation and close attention to health history, body tension, head turning, feeding posture, and appropriate integration of primitive reflexes. For older children, care will include gentle spinal contacts, posture and breath awareness, and body-based education that helps them understand themselves.
NetworkSpinal will be used to help the child’s spine and nervous system to learn better patterns for adaptation and thriving. Somato Respiratory Integration may be adapted for older children to help with breath, body awareness, and self-connection.
The goal is to meet their system with respect and support better function, development and their future health.
